Karl Kunz was born in 1905. Kunz is one of those East Prussian artists who come from the tradition of artists from the Gdansk Technical University. In 1920 he began training at Fritz A. Pfuhle in Gdansk. He had a lifelong friendship with his teacher. "Stylistically, initially inspired by the style of the New Objectivity, he finds later at a more picturesque free style with a tone - in - tone color scale, as was characteristic of the painters of the Gdansk School".
